The Art of Coping with War
Ihor Bondarenko, Oleksandr Glyadyelov, Yana Kononova, Sasha Kurmaz, Olena Subach

Since February 24 2022 Ukrainians have been living in a different world, both metaphorically and legally, due to the current invocation of martial law. Everyone in Ukraine has their own story of dealing with Russian aggression. It is entwined into the common canvas of collective trauma. But while the country is still in a state of war, it is important to observe and learn what happens within the Ukraine. This exhibition shows observations of war from the inside.

We present five photographers—five personal reactions to the war. Each artist melts a traumatic experience into an artistic image in their own way. Together, they create an image of the war that communicates a much more nuanced emotional range than can be captured in mass media.
