Mini Europe

TheOffenbach University of Art and Design/Satellit Berlin presents new works by its Berlin students. The artists in residence are granted the opportunity to live, work, and exhibit in the Berlin Satellite for four weeks. Their exhibition Mini Europe explores Europe’s image as a model. In Brussels, along with the Atomium, there is a so-called Mini Europe, a model park of signature European buildings. Absurd shifts in size emerge from a collision between scales; visitors resemble Nancy Archer in the 1958 film Attack of the 50-Foot Woman.
Similar model-like transformations can also be found in other locations the students have visited and recorded over the course of numerous excursions throughout the past several years. The 1:1 replicas of the Römer in Frankfurt and the Berlin City Palace, for instance, allow the model to become constructed reality.
