Ken Heyman

For the first time in Europe, the Galerie argus fotokunst presents photographs by master photographer Ken Heyman on the history of Pop Art. Ken Heyman (born 1930) accompanied the artists of the Pop Art movement in America in their early phase in New York City. The works of these artists exerted a powerful influence on the art of Europe and the whole world. Names such as Andy Warhol, Tom Wesselmann, Roy Lichtenstein, James Rosenquist, and Claes Oldenburg are present today in modern art museums worldwide. Ken Heyman observed these artists closely in their studios and working spaces; his wonderful photographs constitute an important document of the era.
Heyman photographed in over 60 countries, worked for several magazines, was a member of Magnum Photos, exhibited in many museums including the Museum of Modern Art, the Smithsonian Institution, the International Center for Photography, and the American Museum of Natural History, NYC, and published extensive book projects such as Family (1965) and World Enough (1976).
