Vilnius — Berlin

Encounters

Ramūnas Danisevičius, Renatas Neverbickas

The distance between Vilnius and Berlin is only one thousand kilometres, yet as cities they are completely different. Two capitals of two European countries, two photographers and renowned photojournalists, former colleagues now meeting for the first time in an exhibition space: Renatas Neverbickas (born 1967) and Ramūnas Danisevičius (born 1973).
Renatas visited Berlin 25 years ago and fell in love with the city; he has been living here for two years now. His astute journalist’s eye helps us to discover the uniqueness of Berlin and its people; black-and-white photos of faces he finds characteristic for the city paint a diverse portrait.
In Ramūnas’s images, Vilnius is gentle and bright; at times it looks like a backdrop from a book of fairy tales. Light and colours, modern and old things, architecture and details play the essential role here – all works were shot with a pinhole camera. Ramūnas now works as a press photographer in Vilnius and Renatas as a fashion photographer in Berlin.
