Wilhelm Schürmann
Entropie zu Hause
Wilhelm Schürmann
Wilhelm Schürmann, born 1946 in Dortmund, is a photographer, professor for photography, and collector of contemporary art. As a photographer, he seeks out his living environment with an eye to the constants of everyday life both in the big city and the suburb; his images often resemble a world artificially constructed for scrutiny. His photographs negotiate the degree separating reality and its construction; with a mischievous smile, he presents an inventory of daily life that records the conditions of its time.
The exhibition Entropie zu Hause at only photography brings together black-and-white photographs from the 1980s with current colour images from 2008 to the present. Over the past several years Schürmann has increasingly focussed on his living environment in Berlin, together with its ongoing processes of change.
