APERTURE
APERTURE
Created in 1952 by photographers and writers as “common ground for the advancement of photography,” Aperture is a not-for-profit foundation in New York connecting the photo community and its audiences in print, in person and online. Its activities include: publishing the quarterly Aperture magazine; the annual publication of 12–15 new photobooks and books about photography by classic, contemporary and emerging photo graphers and writers on photography, plus around 25 print and other limited editions; a growing digital publishing program including e-books, apps and a blog; and the biannual The PhotoBook Review journal. In collaboration with Paris Photo, Aperture organizes the Paris Photo-Aperture Foundation PhotoBook Awards, with First Book, PhotoBook of the Year, and Photography Catalogue of the Year categories. Aperture also holds talks and education events at its gallery and bookshop and at partner venues.
