Opening Days

>> For all events free admission
Getting an over view of the constantly growing visual flood of images in our daily lives seems now like a Sisyphean task. In place of contem plative immersion in the imager y, the next captured moment immediately demands both our attention and intensive sharing. Whether it’s the media, the art market, agencies, cultural institutions, archives or even private use - dealing with the photographic image has long been defined by comprehensive digitization, omnipresent algorithms and inexpensive data storage. Rather than surrender, new technical solutions and cultural practices are in demand now more than ever. Arranging, sorting, filtering, editing, reviewing, categorizing and deleting seem less glamorous, but nevertheless remain sound and meaningful practices for the future.
On the occasion of the EMOP Opening Days, internationally renowned photographers, curators, media exper ts, archivists and journalists will discuss in talks and panels about “Filtering the Future.” The Book Days, curated by C/O Berlin, will give 35 international publishing houses the opportunity to present their newest publications at the premises of Museum für Fotografie and Helmut Newton Foundation. Workshops for children and teens as well as concerts and DJ sets will complete
the program to open the EMOP Berlin.
