The anatomy of human destructiveness
Lette Verein Schüler*innen der drei Ausbildungsjahre
‘[Man] is part of nature [...]. He is set apart while being a part, he is homeless, yet chained to the home he shares with all creatures. [...] Man is the only animal who does not feel at home in nature, [...] the only animal for whom his own existence is a problem that he has to solve and from which he cannot escape.’
(Erich Fromm, The Anatomy of Human Destructiveness)
What is the anatomy of human destructiveness, and how does it express itself in our society? Humans have become deaf to themselves. Due to information overload and an addiction to self-sabotage and control, we lose ourselves in the madness of excessive consumption and a constant striving for more. These are the spheres that aspiring photographers of different ages from the Lette Verein Berlin address in this exhibition . The various prints on show delve into sociocritical and philosophical topics.
