Evelyn Bencicova: Asymptote
Evelyn Bencicova

Evelyn Bencicova (b. 1992) is a contemporary multidisciplinary artist who works at the interface between photography, video, and virtual reality. With visual precision, she addresses key themes such as identity, memory, and the complex interrelationship between the individual and society.

Through her unique visual language and the use of predominantly cool colours, she creates an atmosphere of coldness and isolation. This aesthetic lends her works a deliberately staged, almost surreal effect that underscores the themes of artificiality and distance.

In the 2016 series Asymptote, shown now for the first time in Germany, Bencicova addresses individual alienation in a world of surveillance and control, exploring the architecture of the communist era and its link to the ideology of the regime. Asymptote is a profound reflection on the uniformity of modern society and the desire for individuality.

A solo exhibition of her works, shown in cooperation with the Reinbeckhallen Foundation, enters into dialogue with the exhibition Asymptote.
