enroute

Lena Guimont, Markus Hahn, Ulrike Lachmann, Eckart Pscheidl-Jeschke, Johanna Wunderlich

The exhibition enroute presents works that collectively address the subject of becoming. These are photographs about social, personal, or topographical development, in the course of which the situation as it exists is reflected upon and considered anew, discarded, or discontinued.
From Berlin’s Mauerpark turning into an international hotspot, to the apparent disorientation of pubescent teenagers, to the collision of different cultures within Europe, to the structural changes occurring in the countryside – all five artists address various states of becoming.
The works do not claim to be documentary in nature. Instead they are an artistic condensation of the following position: a society is obliged to address ongoing upheaval and contemporary crises and is to remain open for reorientation and corrective without denying the underlying foundation of the past.
