We find power as a dynamic process in all parts of life, be it in our profession, society, or personal relationships. Particularly in times of turmoil, power relations and strategies must be constantly renegotiated. In art, we discover power both as a subject of representation and a component of artistic forms of expression – the power of the artists over their presentation.
The artists’ works in the project Strategies of Power reflect this diversity with a wide spectrum on offer: reports and documentaries on a former Stasi prisoner; the construction of the most expensive motorway section in Germany; landscapes ruined by coal mining; orchestrated works on violence against women; and abstract works on the piles of rubbish resulting from our consumer excesses.
The exhibition is accompanied by theme-related events, art installations, and a dance performance on the subject of power.
