The Story of the Other

Pjotr Filin, Archi Galentz, Volker Kreidler

Since 2009, in addition to curating exhibitions, InteriorDAsein has been active as an independent project space for the interchange of artists from Europe, Russia, and the Caucasus region.
The Story of the Other examines perspectives on European history and their interactions. Pjotr Filin, Archi Galentz, and Volker Kreidler present contemporary status reports of locations rich in history. In the process, The Story of the Other evolves into a private and palpable experience.
In this sense, with its memory landscapes from the Second World War, Volker Kreidler's large-scale Battlefield Topographies creates a space for personal contemplation. In Pjotr Filin's stylised, faded yellow photographs of Nazi buildings, however, the past is almost overemphasised. Archi Galentz addresses ‘ghosts of the past’ and develops unconventional coping strategies, using long-term exposures to document light phenomena in the former Ministry of State Security. All works are based on analogue, documentary recording processes.
