The best of what we have at home

The exhibition presents the works of students and educators of the Studio Laboratory of Photography in the Dept. of Photography and New Media at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. The studio, run by Ľubo Stacho, has progressed through several developmental stages with ambitious exhibitions and creative workshops including on the Isle of Skye (Scotland) 1995, in Berlin 2008, Bratislava 2011–12, Košice 2012, Ostrava 2013 and Bihor (Romania) 2013.
The studio’s philosophy is to merge photography with other media that form the essence of creative activity inseparable from modern art. The exhibition presents documentary projects and experimental research positions into the photographic medium itself. To a certain extent, this trend mirrors the influence of global internet culture; at the same time it examines regional archetypes and reflects the students’ courage in transgressing the limitations in the ordinary understanding of photography.
