Who Am I?

Eight students of the f/16 School for Photography explore the question ‘Who Am I?’ in a variety of ways. How does personality show itself in an image, and how can it be stylised into an icon? What is a self-portrait, and how can it be altered? These questions are explored in the exhibition.
There is much for the viewer to encounter here: remnants and unfinished business; symbols of inclinations, strengths and weaknesses; quotes from dreams and memories; an image of the self as photographer; self-stagings that are sometimes disturbing. Everything becomes a self-portrait here, the narratives differ and vary from the explicit to the coded. It remains up to viewers to draw their own conclusions by recognizing and interpreting the symbolic content.
