DER GREIF
DER GREIF
Der Greif, founded in 2008 by Simon Karlstetter, is an award-winning organization for contemporar y photography which presents and brings together the work of various photographers and authors from around the world. Topics such as authorship, decontextualization and recontextualization, as well as appropriation are crucial to Der Greif’s approach. Contributing artists include Esther Teichmann, Roger Ballen, Yoshi Kametani and Carrie Mae Weems. Der Greif’s website demonstrates the project’s highly collaborative approach with, for example, the Guest Room online exhibition space with open submissions, curated in real- time by prominent figures from the world of photography. In addition, a weekly showcase puts the spotlight onto the work of selected artists who are featured in the print publication with a single image. During the week, these artists also blog on the website. Der Greif works with numerous institutions, galleries and other magazines.

The École cantonale d’Art de Lausanne (ECAL) offers bachelor and master programs in the areas of visual communication, art, cinema, and design. Ranked among the world’s top 10 universities in its field, ECAL equips its students with practical experience alongside theoretical knowledge. Founded in 1821, ECAL currently has 600 students from over 40 nations.
