SALAMBO 1914

I found in a long-forgotten trunk pictures from the film Salambò, belonging to one of my distant progenitors (I couldn’t tell you the exact connection). The pictures hit me like a stroke of lightning, and I saw Flaubert and his excessive, descriptive and magnificent Salambò enter into the scenes of my forefather – decadent visions reconstructed from a limbo of study. Then, I had the perfect vision: Salambò appeared to me alive; she was descending the stairs, followed by the eunuch priests of the temple of Tanit.
