Four young photographers explore the theme of change in a group exhibition, whereby change always entails other dimensions as well: temporal, spatial, historic, and social.
Taking photographs of an East German citizen as her departure point, Annekatrin Weiße embarks on a journey into the collective German past. Accompanied by her analogue Practica camera, she documents a transformation process that carries through to the present.
Angela Schmidt portrays the constant change of location in the lives of restless people. 'What urges us all on is the search for meaning. At the moment, this might consist in living a mobile life.'
In a Europe that is growing closer together, the journey represents a link between tradition and modernity. Sabine Ronge’s photographs portray the lives of the journeymen that have been keeping existing traditions alive in the interchange between cultures.
Stefanie Völker approaches the theme of change in her own personal way. Her portraits document people that have followed their own paths – to places they’ve dreamed of and have succeeded in settling in.
