My art practice is dedicated to a process of approaching individual perceptions of reality by considering the construction of language, meaning, identity, memory and emotion while examining the exercise of art-making. This process attempts to define instead of concluding by proposing multiple perspectives to expand on specific experiences rather than using one fixed strategy. Ultimately, multiple attempts at defining bring forth seemingly insignificant fragments and a focus on banality that embodies and reflects upon the intricacy of personal experience.
My work meanwhile deals with the cognition of the self and the connection with others. The evolvement of identity, the shift of perceptions, the gesture of interactions and the ambiguity of empathy are among my long-term interests. I mostly use photography, video, objects or texts, and at times integrate performance and sound into the work. Chih-Chien Wang
