get round

Ana Cayuela Muñoz, Alen Dozgiċ

get round presents both melancholic and life-affirming everyday scenes from Cuba (Ana Cayuela Muñoz) and Serbia (Alen Đozgiċ). The works offer photographic insight into two societies that are far apart from one another, but nonetheless correspond in terms of their current transitional states. The photographs document people dealing with everyday issues in a toss-up between a certain acquiescence in a collective fate and individual ways of living. Muñoz and Đozgiċ do not assume a socio-critical position but are interested in the given, independently of whether it exists in a certain social milieu or an undefined outside location. They do not emphasize thematic and symbolic contrasts, but subtly reflect a microcosm in which people linger in a ‘nowhere’ following the failure of all collective myths – yet who possess authenticity and the strength to live despite this.

Artist's talk and guided tour through the exhibition

with Ana Cayuela Muñoz and Alen Đozgiċ
In the exhibition are mainly photographs from Cuba (Muñoz) and Serbia (Đozliċ). Both photographers focus their work on the everyday circumstances, on the microcosm of the real - the tension between the inevitable submission of man under the collective destiny on the one hand and independent lifestyles on the other hand.
