LUMIX // what counts

Prizewinners of the Fifth Lumix Festival for Young Photojournalism as well as selected exceptional works

Johan Bävman, Enri Canaj, Laura Morton, Jonas Wresch, Tamina-Florentine Zuch

Photojournalism possesses an important narrative power in our image-oriented world; what counts is the search for the right moment, which is often preceded by the photographer’s patience. Over 1,200 students and professionals under the age of 35 regularly submit their photo reportages to compete for the FREELENS Award. Together with the Lammerhuber Photography Award, the prize is awarded every two years at the LUMIX Festival, which the Hochschule Hannover and the photographers’ association FREELENS have put on successfully for the fifth time. The winning works are being presented for the first time in Berlin: an impressive visual forum of human life with all its various facets. Poetic, current and quirky – the works of the selected photographers make it quite clear what counts.
