The aim of the ‘IN TRANSIT’ project is to situate the ‘view of the other’ in a discourse about our current society or societies and to stimulate dialogue. Everyone is invited to participate actively and artistically and to record and communicate his or her view of the other, of social and urban transformation, in photographs. Portfolio Review

For the first time, the European Month of Photography, Berlin, offers a portfolio viewing, to take place at the Berlinische Galerie as the conclusion of the festival on November 24 and 25, 2012. Selected emerging photographers can present their works in fifteen-twenty-minute, individual conversations to well-known experts in the photo scene – including photographers, exhibition curators, picture editors, art buyers and teachers. Every photographer has the possibility to talk to four experts. Afterwards, the experts will go along the large table during a one-hour ‘walk’ and discuss the works displayed by all of the participants. The first prize is an exhibition in the gallery Pavlov’s Dog – Raum für Fotografie in 2013, that will be conceptualized in cooperation with the gallerists of Pavlov's Dog. The presentation of the awards is public and will take on November 25 in the exhibition rooms of the Berlinische Galerie, which will be kept open especially for this event.
