BLOW Your Mind presents a selection of works by emerging photographers based in Ireland. Interpreting the main theme of “The View of the Other” in diverse ways, their photographs examine a society in cultural, political and economical flux. New values merge with the old, creating ripples across all aspects of human life. The contrast between ‘the known and the unknown’ is fading, giving way to a fertile new ground of shifting viewpoints and transforming identities. The exhibition showcases the creative potential of a society in transition through a selection of photographs that not only examine sociopolitical changes, but also more intimate, personal and psychological transformations. The works presented range from abstract landscape photographs to social commentary on the current state of ‘nomadic’ human identity. We invite you to engage with the View of the ‘Other’ from Ireland, a view that is now less the other’s and more our own in a world where concepts of physical and cultural distance are slowly becoming obsolete.
